Celebrate Today – Australasian Blog Hop

Hi and welcome to the Celebrate Today Australasian Blog Hop.

If you arrived here from Creating with Kara Davies then you’re doing a great job of hopping.

But if you’ve just stumbled upon here, or you’re a regular reader, we’d love it if you joined in the hop by clicking the link at the end of this post.

Now, with a title like Celebrate Today, and the most beautiful birthday pages in the workshop kit, it would be very easy to only consider creating celebration pages with this beautiful suite.

But for me, the beautiful colours and the watercolour effect screamed summer. Who’s enjoyed some time out over the summer period? I was so hanging out for a break. It seemed like everyone else was on holiday, but I was still home working away. Can anyone relate? Don’t get me wrong, I love my job, but I have to admit to the motivation being low at the beginning of the year. Seeing everyone’s posts on facebook as they enjoyed some glorious NZ (or overseas) beach escape was killing me. BUT, I finally got my turn, and got to be the one spamming everyone with beautiful summer holiday photos!

We headed to the Mount (Mt Maunganui) for a week, and had an absolute ball. You can see how much fun we had on the layout if you scroll down a little further.

As I mentioned above, I knew the colours in the Celebrate Today pack would be just perfect for celebrating our summer holiday (see, it is a celebration of a kind). I decided to combine a little of the paper, with the Celebrate Today Picture My Life cards, as they make creating and decorating a layout so easy. And I’m all for easy!

I combined the papers with the Celebrate Today Scrapbooking stamp set. This is such a versatile one – obviously a great one to have in your stash for those birthdays that come around every year, but also completely transferable to other designs.

I used the ABC foam stickers for the title. I have coloured these in many different ways, but thought I’d see if I could add another medium. I wanted to continue the watercolour effect, so tried some watercolour paint on the letters. This worked way better than I thought it would – it does actually dry, you just need to leave for a while to do that. Then to add a little more glitz, I threw in a little sparkle with the raspberry shimmer pen. I LOVE how it turned out, it totally continues the theme of the paper.

And guess what – the best thing is – is that I got the photos printed straight away (choosing which ones took the most time), and voila – here’s the finished layout.

I hope you like it enough to ‘case’ it. 🙂

  1. What a bright and fun layout Megan. I would never have thought to watercolour the foam alphas – great tip, I’ll be trying that one for sure
