Crafting joy with A Season of Green and Gold

,A Season of Green and Gold is a mid winter release from Stampin’ Up!, and is perfect for celebrating a mid winter Christmas, or for getting a jump on this years Christmas cards.

But if you take a closer look at the range, you’ll see that you can look well beyond Christmas with it. On one side of the paper pack you have gold foil accents, which scream both Christmas and celebrations. But the other side is much more muted, with a series of beautiful green patterned paper.

I loved creating with it, and to showcase it’s versatility, I’ve created a layout for Christmas, that I’ve then re-created for a hike we did.

The layout was inspired by a challenge I saw in the CDT Celebration Event group on FB. I always love layouts that get lots of photos on a page, but in an uncluttered way. I don’t know about you, but I always have a lot of Christmas photos, so reducing that number is always hard.

Here’s the base layout I created.

There’s a few things on here that might not be obvious as you first look at it.

The Details

1. The Happy Christmas along the side is gold embossed, which continues the ‘shiny gold’ theme from the paper. That sentiment comes from the Greetings of the Season set.
2. I’ve used Pecan Pie ink and a blending brush to add a little colour behind the embellishment clusters (bottom left behind the vellum leaves, behind the bells, and again behind the vellum leaves and tag.
3. The tag was created using the Greetings of the Season die set. I cut the bottom of it, and used this as my tab bottom left.
4. The vellum paper used is from the Graceful Greenery pack
5. The gold bells have been ‘fussy cut’ out of one of the sheets of the Green and Gold paper.
6. The little gold accents have been created using the Gold from the Metallic Enamel Effects Basics.

I then took that same basic layout design, and modified just slightly, to capture a little hike hubby and I did.

I decided to see how modifying the photo sizes would work, and am really happy how it turned out.

I changed the photos from 9x 3×3’s, to 3x 3×4, 3x 3×2, and 3x 3×3’s.
Instead of gold embossing the little side detail, I changed it to trees, and stamped in a complementary green. And I created a title just in black.

Both layouts are still waiting on their journalling, which will go in the area below the feature photo.

This is the season to get out the ribbons, and the bling, and create things that have that celebratory feel. It feels so lovely working with them.
