The Scenic Route Travel Journal kit and walkthrough
A Scenic Route Travel Journal : the perfect way to save and share your favourite travel moments.
Are you ready to document your travel adventures in a fun and creative way? Stampin’ Up!’s Scenic Route Travel Journal is the perfect companion for capturing memories on the go. Whether you’re exploring far-off destinations or enjoying local weekend getaways, this journal offers a beautiful blend of crafting and storytelling.
The Scenic Route Travel Journal comes as a complete kit – so all you need to add is your photos and memories. Trust me – this is a lifesaver in SO many ways. It limits procrastination, and takes away all the excuses of not having enough time, or the right tools etc. They are all at hand! And once you sit down to complete it, you might be very surprised at how quickly it all comes together.
Even though you’re using a kit, the amount of different elements within it, still offers you the option of personalising it to your style. But, if you’re short on imagination, you can just mimic the images in the enclosed guide.
So whether you’re a creative chic, or just a wanna be, this kit has you covered.
The hardest part is choosing the photos – scroll down to learn how to do this.
In the meantime, I’m super excited to share my finished Journal with you.
In March this year, I was very honoured to be part of a CTMH incentive trip to the Riviera Maya in Mexico. As it turned out, a week before we left, CTMH announced their closing, so the trip was a very bittersweet one.
But, this kit was just the most perfect way to celebrate it, remember it, and treasure those memories.
The little pockets on some of the pages allow you to add extra ‘loose’ photos in. A feature I really love. It allows you to add extra photos without needing extra pages for them. And anyone looking at the album can just take them out to view. It’s actually really cool.
If you’d like to see an actual walkthrough, so you can see and understand how the pages work, check this out:
Isn’t it so cool? And with Christmas approaching, this is an item that needs to be on a list or two – whether it’s for you, or for gift giving. I mean, what a perfect gift!
Did I mention that you don’t need any crafting experience, or skill, to create this??
All you need, is to have had a travel adventure, with amazing memories, that you’d like to treasure more. This can really become the ultimate souvenir of your trip.

How do I choose which photos to use?
The hardest part of this project, is choosing which photos to use. And it really is the area where it takes the most time.
I have a couple of recommendations.
The first journal you make, I would recommend you use it for just one trip.
So – step one – choose your adventure.
Now, pick up your phone, and start favouriting. What do I mean? Find your photos from that trip, and start going through them. As you come across absolute favourites, double tap (on an iphone) to ‘favourite’ it. This is how I do my first cull.
Once you’ve gone through and done this for all of the photos from that adventure, now head to your Favourites album, and see how many photos you have there. I would recommend that 25-40 photos is a great amount. So if you have way more than this in your Favourites folder, now you need to start culling. As you go through them, tap the ones you decide not to use, and this will remove them from your Favourites. Keep going until you’re down to the number recommended.
Now – go get those photos printed. I recommend you get them done with a white border – it just helps them stand out a little better. It doesn’t cost any more, and it really is a great feature.
If you do want to re-size any of your photos, this can be easier done ahead of time, especially if you don’t own a photo trimmer. Watch THIS tutorial for how to do this using the free Canva software.
Once you’ve got your printed photos, sit down with your journal, and organise them into / onto the pages. Don’t worry if they’re ‘not in order’ – they don’t have to be. This is your journal – you can create it however you like. But putting your photos into order, makes creating the pages super quick.
Then it’s just a matter of creating the pages one by one, choosing from the range of embellishments in the kit – stickers, die cuts, journal boxes etc, to enhance each page.
Have the best FUN!
